Peatland wildfire could have doubled Scotland's greenhouse gas emissions for the 6 days that it burnt

A single wildfire on an internationally important peatland in northern Scotland, that burnt for six days, could have released an amount of carbon into the atmosphere equivalent to six days’ worth of Scotland’s total greenhouse gas emissions, according to a report for WWF-UK.
