Climate crisis reducing land's ability to sustain humanity, says IPCC

UN report finds ecosystems never before under such threat and restoration is urgent

The Guardian highlights the findings of the latest UN "Climate change and land" report: the climate crisis is damaging the ability of the land to sustain us, while the knock on effects are worsening as global temperatures rise.

One of the most stark conclusions of the report is that soil is being lost more than 100 times faster than it is being formed in ploughed areas, and 10 - 20 times faster on fields that are untilled.
