Work has been continuing to digitise the original 1:63 360 and 1:50 000 Soil Survey of Scotland maps. The most recent updates (phase 7) include the Orkney Islands and the area south east of Inverness. The map now covers much of the cultivated land in Scotland and some of the adjacent upland areas.
The Soil map of Scotland (partial cover) can be viewed on the Soils website and the data can be downloaded from the Soils@Hutton webpage.
